Lisa Farris has been working in Ceramics for many years, but it’s only recently that she’s been able to approach her practice in a more serious manner. In 2021, she was awarded an artist’s residency at the Hambidge Center in Rabun, Georgia. The intensity and joy of that experience, along with an empty nest, inspired Farris to earn her MFA in Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2024. For the last two years at Cranbrook, Farris’s practice focused on the strange seamlessness between human beings and the natural world. She sees her research and her making as an act of reconnecting with herself, finding the fearless girl who lived so fully in sync with nature and with her own creativity.
